Stephen M. Boreman is an experienced California health care attorney with a practice focused on licensing with the Medical Board of California. He served as a Deputy Attorney General representing the Medical Board until 2009. His current practice focuses primarily on physician licensing as well as consulting with criminal defense attorneys on collateral consequences to minimize the impact of criminal convictions.
Steve is a member of the California Academy of Attorneys for Health Care Professionals (CAAHP).
Steve's extensive legal background includes 15 years as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California. During that time he worked for 10 years in the Health Quality Enforcement (HQE) Section where he was the Attorney General’s Liaison to the California Medical Board and the Osteopathic Medical Board. Steve also served as a legislative advocate for the Attorney General, receiving the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence for his efforts.
Prior to law school Steve was a Special Agent of the F.B.I. (New York) in counter-terrorism, foreign counterintelligence, and organized crime. He was an F.B.I.-D.E.A.-certified Narcotic and Drug Specialist. Steve was also certified as a Clinical Instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA).

Raised in San Francisco, Steve attended St. Monica's School, St. Ignatius College Preparatory, and the University of San Francisco before completing his law degree at U.C. Davis' School of Law, King Hall, where he was Managing Editor of the UCD Law Review. He also holds an M.A. degree in Political Science from U.C. Santa Barbara, where he studied Courts, Judges, and Politics under the late Professor C. Herman Pritchett, a nationally acclaimed scholar in Constitutional Law.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve is a certified open-water scuba diver and supporter of the Ocean Defenders' Alliance (ODA), a nonprofit organization of divers committed to ridding the oceans of man-made hazards to fish and wildlife. He is also a long-board surfer with a preference for warm water, having grown up frequenting the frigid waves of San Francisco and Santa Cruz. He and his wife, Harumi, are members of Zen Heart Sangha in Woodside, California. They are frequent visitors to Japan where Steve has engaged in Zen study.
