Contractors State License Board

We defend California contractors in license law matters before the Contractors State License Board (CSLB).  We have over 20 years of administrative law and license defense experience, and we handle:

  • License Applications
  • Complaints and consumer arbitrations
  • Investigations
  • Citations
  • License Denials / Statement of Issues
  • Accusations
  • Administrative Hearings
  • Petitions for Writ of Mandate (Mandamus)
  • Appeals
  • Petitions for Reinstatement

There is a four year statute of limitations for the CSLB to file an Accusation against a California contractor.  (Bus. & Prof. Code, § 7091.)

CHECK YOUR CONTRACT FORM.  In our experience, many consumer complaints lead the CSLB to review the contract. Unfortunately, many contract forms do not comply with contractors law.  We recommend reviewing your contract against the sample form in the CSLB publication: Contracting for Success, A Contractor’s Guide to Home Improvement Contracts. These technical requirements are not applicable to contracts for commercial projects.

If you hear from a CSLB investigator or you receive an Accusation by mail, contact us as soon as possible to speak with a California administrative law attorney who has expertise defending contractors before the Contractors State License Board.
